Here is a really fun product that I got to review! Husband and wife team Josh and Shauna over at Mommydaddysavers.com, are going to help you save BIG! As they welcomed their first baby into the world, they quickly realized just how much money a new bundle of joy can cost. They set out to debunk the myth that you have to spend a lot of money to have a new baby- and I think they’ve done a great job!
Their books are all available for download at Mommydaddysavers.com, and I enjoyed getting a sneak peak! You will find Ultimate Baby Bargain Guide, Budget Spreadsheet, Bargain Website Directory, Quickstart Guide to Homemade Baby Food, and the Ultimate Baby Shower Guide.
Pros: WOW- so much information available in these downloads- things that I seriously never thought of, and that I will definitely be trying. Among my favorite topics covered in the Ultimate Baby Bargain Guide are: how to negotiate prices (LOVE the “take cash” tip!), budget breakdown and pointers, finding cheap pregnancy books, saving on medications in the hospital after delivery, and all of the items that you may think are “must haves” but that are really just big ‘ol wastes of money! I loved the different recipes at the end for fun crafts- I never knew you could make your own tub crayons! The other resources offered by mommydaddysavers.com are full of great information. The Bargain Website Directory has some of the best websites out there to help you save some serious cash (hmmm… perhaps mamacheaps.com will make it into there someday!). If you’re on the hook for throwing a baby shower, the Ultimate Baby Shower Guide is your one-stop-shop for everything from themes to food prep. As a mama who makes most of her child’s food, I can say that the Quickstart Guide to Homemade Baby Food covers all of the basics, and is a perfect starter for anyone interested in making their own food- it’s so easy!
Cons: I have to say, I really didn’t find many. One suggestion I will make for you, the reader, is the same that I would make when reviewing any type of “how to” information: use this as a guide and don’t be afraid to adapt different methods to your own style and situation. Remember that all babies and parents are different and unique, and there is no cookie cutter to conform to. For example, the Quickstart Guide to Homemade Baby Food downplays rice cereal (known to cause constipation in some babies), which Lily Bean happens to LOVE and has never had any gastrointestinal distress whatsoever. Though rice cereal is not perfect for all babies, I still tried it, and am so glad I did!
Bottom Line: I really enjoyed reading these great resources and would certainly recommend them to anyone interested in saving money.
